How to Properly Spring Clean Your Bathroom

Spring is here and there’s no better time to clean your house. Don’t neglect the bathroom, as it’s the most used room in the home. Therefore, it needs the most TLC!  Check out these tips on how to properly clean your bathroom this spring.

Remove Everything

While this sounds like an initial hassle up front, you’ll save yourself time and energy later. Who wants to shuffle items across the room as they clean? Not us! Remove all shampoo and soap from the shower and clean out the medicine cabinet (while you’re at it, get rid of expired medications). You’ll also want to clear off your counters and remove everything from under the sink. This is a good time to purge your cleaning supplies.

Pick up all towels and face cloths and throw them in the wash. Empty the trash and now you’re ready to begin cleaning.

Dust, Sweep, Vacuum

Get rid of cobwebs in the corners of the room with a feather duster. Dust sinks and cabinets, and don’t neglect the light fixtures, vents and fans. Now vacuum the entire room.

Spray the Shower and Bathtub

Using a bathroom foam cleaner, spray it inside the shower and bathtub. Let it sit and work its magic. Rinse completely and let dry. Don’t forget to spray in the shower track, drains, shower head, and faucet. Once dry, replace all items, wiping down each one as you put them back. Use a glass cleaner on your glass shower door if you have one. Be on the lookout for leaky pipes or anything else that you should call the plumber for. Make a note of each needed repair.

Wipe Down Surfaces

Wipe down all surfaces with a washcloth or sponge. Be sure to get walls, baseboards, cupboards, towel racks, medicine cabinets and windowsills. Work from the top down. Clean the sink with cleaner, making sure to scrub the counter top, basin and faucet. Polish the faucet so it shines. Clean the drain, and then the mirror.

Do Some Mopping

Add cleaner to a bucket of warm water and mop the whole bathroom.

Clean the Toilet

We know, this is the worst part about bathroom cleaning, but it’s a must. Spray toilet cleaner in the bowl and scrub with a brush. Clean the outside of the toilet with an all-purpose cleaner. Let dry.

Finish Up

Take a look around to see if you missed anything. Spot clean any stains that may appear on the walls. Touch up chipped areas with paint. Add a fresh shower curtain, advises Good Housekeeping. Replace all items, wiping each down as you go. Add fresh towels and a clean rug, and you’re all done!

See? It wasn’t so bad. Enjoy your spring and enjoy your clean bathroom.
