5 steps to DIY!

Firstable, you have to know that fixing leaky taps can be surprisingly inexpensive and simple, even the most amateur DIYer can handle this mission.

In this post we’ll show you how to fix a leaky tap in just five steps:
- Don’t make a mess! Turn Off the Water
- Remove the handle
- Pull off the cartridge
- Clean and dry then install new cartridge
- Reassemble all the parts
Step 1: Don’t make a mess! Turn Off the Water
Make sure your water supply is turned off. Look underneath your sink for the pipes that run up. Twist the valve to turn off the water supply.
Step 2: Remove the handle
Remove any decorative parts of the handle knobs. If there is a set screw behind the handle, insert a key into the screw and turn it to remove.
Step 3: Pull off the cartridge
Use your wrench to loosen the packing nut in the handle assembly, then remove it. Pull the cartridge straight up and out of the assembly. Check the removed parts for any damage.
Step 4: Clean and dry then, install new cartridge
Clean and dry the area around the handle and all the parts with a rag. Examine the O- rings around the housing and if any are damaged, replace them.
Step 5: Reassemble all the parts
In order of washer/O-ring, stem, packing nut, screw, and handle. Slowly, turn the knob to test the running water and check to see if you’ve licked that leak.
